1. Who we are
Foodtim is an independent personal project developed and operated by Zixiong Wei. This policy explains the current iPhone app, this website and any support correspondence.
In brief: Foodtim stores your fridge records and food photos on your device. It does not upload them to a Foodtim server, require a Foodtim account, or include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs. Device backups, website hosting and information you choose to send for support are described separately below.
2. Information used on your device
The app reads and saves the information you choose to enter so it can manage your fridges and reminders.
| Information | Why it is used | Where it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Fridge names, doors, colours and magnet placements | Display and personalise your fridges | App storage on your device |
| Food names, quantities, units, condition, storage method and dates | Track inventory, apply matching storage rules, suggest recipes and schedule reminders | App storage on your device |
| Photos you take or select | Help identify your foods and reuse a saved photo | A local copy in the app |
| Saved food details and photo references | Make repeat purchases easier to add | Local saved-food history |
| Language and reminder preferences | Remember your choices | Device-local preferences |
The developer cannot remotely access these records or photos. Foodtim does not request your location, contacts, microphone, name, email address or payment details to use the app.
3. Camera, photos and notifications
- Camera: requested only when you choose to take a food photo. You can instead use a default image or select a photo.
- Photo library: the system photo picker lets you choose an image. Foodtim receives the selected image; it does not request unrestricted access to your entire library.
- Notifications: with your permission, your iPhone schedules local daily summaries. Notifications may show food and fridge names and recorded-date status or storage guidance, including on the Lock Screen according to your settings.
You can change camera or notification permission in iPhone Settings. The app remains usable without a personal photo or notifications.
4. Uploads, third parties and tracking
The current app has no Foodtim cloud synchronisation, account system, advertising SDK, third-party analytics SDK, receipt-scanning service or remote AI image-recognition service. Default food illustrations are bundled resources; using them does not send your food records to an AI service. Foodtim does not sell your records or use them for advertising tracking.
If you choose to open an external reference, the destination website receives the normal browser request and applies its own privacy policy. The current app does not automatically attach your fridge contents or food photos to those links.
5. Device backups and Apple services
Local storage does not mean your device can never make a backup. Depending on your iPhone settings, iCloud Backup or a computer backup may include app data. Foodtim currently provides no separate cross-device sync service and cannot manage copies in your device backups.
A selected photo may also be stored in your personal photo library or iCloud Photos, under your own settings. Apple may handle system diagnostics or App Store/TestFlight information according to its services and your choices. These are separate from uploading fridge records to Foodtim.
6. Retention and deletion
Local inventory stays until you edit or remove it. Deleting a fridge removes that fridge and its inventory, but collected magnets and saved-food history are retained.
- To remove an inventory item, open its details and choose Finished / Remove from fridge. A recent inventory change may be undoable.
- To remove a fridge and its inventory, touch and hold the fridge, choose Delete, and confirm.
- To forget saved details or a saved photo, go to Settings → Saved foods & photos and delete the saved entry. Existing inventory is not deleted by this action.
A photo may remain while inventory, saved-food history or a recent undo state still references it. The app cleans unreferenced photo files as local records are updated or loaded; removing one inventory item is not a promise to erase every copy immediately.
Using iOS Delete App removes the app and its current local app container. Offload App retains data. Copies in Photos or device backups must be managed separately in those services.
7. Information you send for support
If you choose to email support, the developer receives your sender address, message and any attachments you send. These are used to respond to your request and troubleshoot the issue, not to create a Foodtim advertising profile. Please avoid sending passwords, identity documents or unrelated private photos.
Support correspondence is retained only as needed to resolve the request, maintain relevant support records or meet applicable legal obligations, then deleted. An email provider may process the correspondence to deliver and store it. You can use the contact email below to make requests about that correspondence. Outlook.com is provided by Microsoft and processes email under its own privacy terms. We cannot remotely retrieve or delete records stored only on your iPhone.
8. This website
This website contains static information and app interface previews using sample data. Its content does not use a Foodtim advertising tracker, analytics script, submission form or food-photo upload feature. Language switching uses page links and does not create a Foodtim cookie or browser profile.
Website hosting and delivery providers may process IP addresses, browser information, requested URLs and security or access logs to serve the pages and protect the service. The public website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, with source files maintained on GitHub. This technical processing is distinct from the app’s local inventory. Visiting the public site does not require a Foodtim, GitHub or Cloudflare account. We do not claim that opening a website creates no network logs.
Provider information: Cloudflare privacy policy and Microsoft privacy statement.
9. Your choices and requests
You can review and change local records in the app, forget saved-food history, decline optional permissions and manage your own backups. Where applicable, you can request access, correction or deletion of information you have directly sent to the developer for support. No Foodtim account exists to delete in this version.
10. Security and policy changes
Foodtim uses the iOS app container and normal device storage protections. Protect your iPhone, Apple Account and backups with your own security settings. No service can promise absolute security.
This policy will be updated if the app’s data practices change. Any future cloud sync, barcode lookup, receipt processing or analytics must be assessed and disclosed before use; none is represented as active here.
